I watched the original KK '33 on Silver Screen Classics (a canadian network which airs mostly, if not only, PD films). Now, I seem to recall Universal holding the copyright on this. Anybody know the actual copyright status?

I believe Ted Turner owns the entire,or at least the majority, of the RKO catalogue, along with Warner Bros and MGM.

The rights to the film are held by Warner Bros. You did notice that last year Warner's released a 2-disc Special Edition of Kong on DVD?
